now, talkin' of humble: *i* won first place in the West Coast Humility Championships way back in '88. they gave me this great big shiny trophy -- the thing must be almost 4 feet high -- that i've got in a glass case in my foyer, lit by a couple of pin spots. i've got a li'l monitor next to it running a loop with a video of me accepting the humility award, and a bunch of the print media coverage framed and mounted on the wall on each side of the trophy (with their own spotlights, of course).

now *that's* humble.
